Support during potential school closures
Together we’re currently experiencing something none of us have before. For many of us, COVID-19 has already impacted our lives in various ways, and it’s certain it will continue to do this in the coming months.
For our schools and educators, the uncertainty created through the prospect of school closures and remote learning is bound to be unsettling. Extra hours and extra stress is only compounded by the personal toll this takes, as we worry about friends, whānau, neighbours and other loved ones. None of us operate in isolation, and ripples will be felt far and wide.
We want to play our small part in reducing the growing burden on schools by committing to support those affected by offering Banqer High at no cost until the end of May.
By this, we mean that from today onwards we invite schools to register for Banqer High in preparation for potential school closures due to COVID-19. If/when a school does need to switch to remote learning we hope they are set-up and ready to use Banqer High confidently with their students. They will not be charged for their use of Banqer High during this period, and will have full access to the platform and all of its features. We are not going to police usage against actual closures, but put our trust in everyone acting in good faith during these times. It’s something I’ve seen in spades already, and I have confidence in my fellow Kiwis.
We’re taking this step for several reasons; we believe Banqer High can be leveraged as a quality remote learning resource and want to ensure access to all during any affected periods, we seek to protect financial education from being deprioritised in Aotearoa due to effective lack of resources, and because it’s simply the right thing to do.
For our loyal paying users out there, firstly thank you. We are a business and your financial support of us has been humbling. It helps us to achieve our mission in preparing the next generation for the financial world ahead. We will continue to support you in every way we can this year through personalised (albeit remote) professional development. Additionally, unlike those accessing Banqer High as a response to school closures, your subscriptions will continue for the remainder of the year. You’ll also have access to higher levels of ongoing support at any stage, with your queries and feedback prioritised over that of other users. Lastly, we’re currently working with some of our partners to prepare ways for you and your students to engage directly with them. This will mean you’ll have direct access to banking and investment experts and will be able to get them in front of students, either in person or remotely.
Thank you for your continued commitment to preparing young Kiwis for their futures, through thick and thin. I hope for many this has provided clarity over the role that educators play in our society, and the continued sacrifices that you make. If we can do anything further to help, please just ask. We’re here to help as best we can, right now more than ever.
