Competition Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions apply to the Partners Life Personal Risk Insurance (“PRI”) Schools Challenge (the “Competition”). Banqer’s Terms of Use apply to all use of the Banqer platform and are incorporated into these terms by reference. In the event of any conflict between these Competition terms and Banqer’s Terms of Use, these Competition terms will prevail.
1. Promoters
The Competition is promoted jointly by:
- Banqer Limited, 359a Lincoln Road, Addington, Christchurch, New Zealand
- Partners Life Limited, Level 3, 1-7 The Strand, Takapuna, New Zealand
2. Eligibility
2.1 The student prize draw is open to all students enrolled in a Banqer High classroom in New Zealand where the Personal Risk Insurance module has been activated. Entries are earned automatically through classroom activity and participation is arranged through the student’s school.
2.2 Activity on the Personal Risk Insurance module of the Banqer platform between 1 January 2026 and 23 August 2026 will count for the purposes of the Competition. Any activity outside that period will not count towards entries.
2.3 The teacher recognition prize is open to all teachers at Banqer High schools in New Zealand.
2.4 Directors, officers, employees of Banqer and Partners Life and their spouses, civil union partners or de facto partners, are not eligible to enter, nominate or be nominated.
3. Competition period
3.1 The Competition period for the student prize draw runs from 07.00am NZST on 3 August 2026 and closes at 11.59pm NZST on 23 August 2026 (the “Competition Period”).
3.2 Teacher nominations open on 30 July 2026 and close at 11:59pm NZST on 23 August 2026. Nominations submitted after this time will not be considered.
4. Student prize draw — how entries are earned
4.1 Students earn entries automatically through their activity on the Banqer platform. No manual entry is required.
4.2 Each student earns:
- One entry for each active Personal Risk Insurance policy they hold on the Banqer platform
- One additional entry if they have satisfactorily completed the PRI quiz (Banqer High Junior) or satisfactorily completed both PRI quizzes (Banqer High Senior)
4.3 The additional quiz entry is only awarded once the relevant quiz or quizzes have been satisfactorily completed, regardless of the number of attempts.
4.4 Entries are calculated at the close of the Competition Period on 23 August 2026.
5. Student prize draw
5.1 Ten winning students will be selected by random draw from all valid entries which will take place at 12.00 midday NZST on 28 August 2026 at Partners Life.
5.2 A student must continue to satisfy the eligibility requirements for the Competition until the relevant prize is awarded. A student will no longer be eligible if, before the prize is awarded, they:
- cease to be enrolled at a New Zealand school participating in Banqer High;
- are suspended or removed from the Banqer platform for breach of Banqer’s standard terms; or
- otherwise ceases to satisfy the eligibility requirements set out in these terms.
5.3 The prize for each winning student comprises:
- One Bonfire gift card to the value of $50 (NZD) for the winning student
- One Bonfire gift card to the value of $150 (NZD) for the classroom teacher of the winning student
5.4 Where more than one winning student shares the same classroom teacher, that teacher will receive one gift card to the value of $150 (NZD).
5.5 Gift cards are subject to the Bonfire gift card terms and conditions, available at https://www.bonfire.co.nz/conditions-of-use.
5.6 Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
5.7 Without limiting any liability which cannot be excluded by law, the Promoters shall not be liable for any loss (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss), damage or injury suffered or sustained (even if caused by negligence) as a result of accepting and/or using a prize supplied by Card Works Limited (ie Bonfire). If a prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond a Promoter’s control, the Promoters may, at their sole discretion, substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Nothing in this clause limits any right to recourse a winner may have against Card Works Limited. All taxes (excluding GST) which may be payable as a consequence of receiving a prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.
6. Teacher recognition prize — nomination process
6.1 Nominations may be submitted by the nominee themselves, by a colleague, or by a principal.
6.2 All nominations must be submitted via the official nomination form at https://forms.gle/KezjPvisPXLNQMu48 before the close of nominations at 11.59pm NZST on 23 August 2026.
6.3 Nominations will be reviewed jointly by Banqer and Partners Life during the week of 24 August 2026. Nominations will be assessed against the following criteria:
- the extent to which the teacher has actively and effectively used the Banqer platform to create meaningful financial education learning experiences for students;
- the impact of the teacher on students’ financial knowledge, confidence and/or engagement including improved financial literacy results amongst students; and
- evidence of the teacher’s professionalism, dedication and care in delivering financial education, including any recognition from the school’s senior leadership and/or academic staff.
6.4 A nominee must continue to satisfy the criteria for the teacher recognition prize until the prize is awarded. A nominated teacher will no longer be eligible if, before the prize is awarded, they:
- cease to be employed as a teacher at an eligible Banqer High school;
- become subject to any disciplinary, professional conduct or regulatory matter which, in Banqer’s and/or Partners Life’s reasonable opinion, makes it inappropriate to award the prize to that teacher;
- are, or their nominee is, found to have provided false, misleading or incomplete information in connection with their nomination; or
- otherwise cease to satisfy the eligibility requirements and criteria set out in these terms.
6.5 The selected teacher will be notified by 5.00pm NZST on 28 August 2026 and announced publicly by 31 August 2026.
6.6 Banqer and Partners Life’s selection decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome.
6.7 By submitting a nomination, the nominator confirms that:
- the information included in the nomination is true and accurate to the best of their knowledge;
- they have the nominated teacher’s permission to submit the nomination and provide the teacher’s personal information to the Promoters; and
- they grant the Promoters a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use the nomination materials solely for the purposes of administering and judging the competition, contacting the nominated teacher and announcing the winner publicly in accordance with these terms.
7. Teacher recognition prize
7.1 The teacher recognition prize comprises a wellness escape experience for one person valued at up to $2,000 (including GST). The experience includes:
- return Air New Zealand economy flights from the winner’s nearest Air New Zealand-serviced airport to Queenstown Airport;
- transfers to and from Queenstown Airport and Sherwood Queenstown;
- two nights’ accommodation in a Standard King Room at Sherwood Queenstown;
- one on-site wellness treatment at Sherwood Queenstown, such as a massage, subject to availability;
- one on-site wellness activity at Sherwood Queenstown, such as a yoga class, subject to availability; and
- a dining credit to enjoy on-site at Sherwood Queenstown.
7.2 The prize value for one person is capped at $2,000 (including GST), including flights, transfers, accommodation, activities, treatments and dining credit. The value of the flights is capped at $750 (including GST). The value of the dining credit is capped at $200 (including GST). The winner may choose to upgrade or enhance the experience, including by adding a guest, upgrading the room type or seeking additional wellness treatments or activities. Any additional costs or incidental expenses must be met by the winner, and are subject to the third party provider’s terms and availability (for example, availability of wellness treatments).
7.3 Flights will be booked on Air New Zealand flights via Partners Life’s preferred travel provider, Tandem Travel. The prize does not include travel to and from the winner’s departure airport.
7.4 Once the flights, transfers, accommodation, activities and/or treatments are booked, cancellation or changes may not be possible or may incur fees. The winner will be responsible for the payment of any such fees.
7.5 Travel insurance is not included. Partners Life recommends that the winner consider suitable travel insurance.
7.6 The prize must be fully redeemed no later than 30 June 2027. The flights, transfers, accommodation, wellness treatment and/or wellness activity are subject to availability. Blackout periods may apply, including public holidays, school holidays and major event periods.
7.7 Partners Life and Tandem Travel are not responsible for delays, cancellations or changes caused by events outside their reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, airline disruptions, accommodation provider issues, strikes, public health events or government restrictions.
7.8 The prize is awarded to the selected teacher personally and is not transferable or redeemable for cash. If any part of the prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter’s control, the Promoters may substitute it with an alternative prize of equal value.
7.9 The prize is subject to the applicable terms and conditions of Air New Zealand and Sherwood Queenstown and their providers (for example, if wellness treatments are provided by a third party at Sherwood Queenstown, that third party’s terms), or the provider(s) of a substitute prize which may be offered in accordance with clause 7.8 above. Without limiting any liability which cannot be excluded by law, the Promoters are not responsible or liable for any loss (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss), damage or injury suffered by any winner as a result of the conduct of Air New Zealand, Sherwood Queenstown, their suppliers, or any substitute provider(s) or otherwise as a result of the winner accepting and/or using a prize (even if caused by negligence), including unavailability of any prize or component of the prize, any cancellation, rescheduling, or enforcement by Air New Zealand, Sherwood Queenstown or another provider of their terms, except to the extent the loss, damage or injury arises as a result of the fraud or wilful misconduct of the Promoters. Nothing in this clause limits any right to recourse you may have against Air New Zealand, Sherwood Queenstown or any substitute provider.
8. Winner notification
8.1 The ten winning students’ schools and/or teachers will be notified by Banqer by 28 August 2026. It is the responsibility of the school and/or teacher to identify and notify the winning students and arrange distribution of gift cards.
8.2 The winning teacher will be notified directly by Banqer by 28 August 2026.
8.3 If a winner cannot be contacted or does not respond within 7 days of notification, Banqer and Partners Life reserve the right to select an alternative winner.
9. Privacy
9.1 Personal information collected through this Competition will be used by Banqer and Partners Life for the purpose of administering the Competition and, for post-Competition content and communications, including publishing the winner’s name and details of their nomination on Banqer and Partners Life social media and other promotional channels. Where a winning student is under 18, the Promoters will obtain written consent from that student’s parent or guardian, via the school, before publishing that student’s name, image or school or any other identifying details. For winners (teachers and students) who are aged 18 or over, the Promoters will obtain written consent from that winner, before publishing that winner’s name, image or school or any other identifying details.
9.2 Personal information will be handled by the Promoters in accordance with their respective privacy policies available at https://banqer.co/nz/privacy and https://www.partnerslife.co.nz/privacy-policy and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
9.3 By entering or submitting a nomination, entrants and nominators consent to their information being shared between Banqer and Partners Life for the purpose of administering the Competition. Nominators will also seek consent from nominees to have this information shared.
10. General conditions
10.1 Banqer and Partners Life reserve the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the Competition at any time if circumstances outside their control make this necessary.
10.2 Banqer and Partners Life accept no responsibility for the cancellation, modification or suspension of the Competition or entries or nominations that are lost, delayed, or not received due to technical issues or other circumstances beyond their reasonable control.
10.3 By participating in the Competition, entrants and nominees agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
10.4 The Promoters reserve the right, at any time, to request verification of the validity of entries and entrants and nominations and nominees (including age, identity, address of winners, school details, and any other information relevant to entry into or participation in the Competition). Verification is at the reasonable discretion of the Promoters. The Promoters reserve the right to disqualify any individual who the Promoters reasonably believe has provided (or, in the case of teachers, whose nominator has provided) false information, failed to provide information, conspired with others to gain unfair advantage or who is otherwise involved in any way in manipulating, interfering or tampering with the conduct of this promotion. The Promoters may in their reasonable discretion elect not to award a prize where they suspect this activity has occurred. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoters’ discretions. Failure by the Promoters to enforce any of their rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
10.5 Entrants are responsible for all costs associated with entering this Competition, including but not limited to internet costs.
11. Governing law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
